Our fine arts students had an unforgettable experience as Utah Opera brought their Opera Up Close program to Roy Jr High! 🙌
🎤 Students were treated to live performances from professional Resident Opera Artists—including a soprano, mezzo, tenor, and baritone—along with a rehearsal pianist. Each performer shared their journey, performed arias, and even demonstrated a mock audition!
🎼 Hearing selections from La Traviata left students in awe—their reactions said it all! 😍
💬 Students also had the chance to ask thoughtful questions about performing, improving their skills, and what it takes to pursue a career in music.
🤯 One of the biggest surprises? There’s an opera for EVERY genre—sci-fi, horror, fantasy, mystery, and more!

After 31 amazing years of teaching, we are saying congratulations (and a heartfelt thank you) to Mrs. Elzey as she heads into retirement! 🙌
Mrs. Elzey has left a lasting mark on Roy Jr High through her humor, creativity, and genuine love for her students. From unforgettable lessons (who could forget learning the Pythagorean Theorem the “Elzey way” 😄) to helping students find confidence in their own unique strengths, she made learning meaningful—and memorable.

After 22 amazing years at Roy Jr. High, we’re celebrating Mr. George, a teacher who has made a lasting impact on generations of students. 🙌
From coaching football, track, volleyball, and basketball 🏈🏃♂️🏐🏀 to building lifelong connections with students, his favorite memories are all about the people—watching former athletes grow up, succeed, and build their own families. ❤️
He also loves the unexpected reunions—running into former students everywhere from Yellowstone to Disneyland to airports across the country! 🌎✈️
And of course, the friendships built with fellow teachers, especially the History Deptartment, whose 1st day of school photos and unforgettable lunchroom conversations will be deeply missed.
