Our German students are taking their language skills OUT of the classroom and into the community… and the little kids are LOVING IT!
Each month, Ms. Moss takes her upper-level German students to Lomond View Elementary, where they get to become the TEACHERS!
That's right! Our Warriors are leading mini German lessons, helping elementary students learn new words and phrases, and showing them just how FUN learning another language can be!
And here's our FAVORITE part…

This awesome partnership has been going strong for approximately SIX YEARS, and we absolutely LOVE what it represents.

They gather in teams, dig into student data, identify where students are thriving AND where they need more support, and then get to work answering the most important question:

They analyze mastery levels. They share strategies. They adjust instruction. They build plans. And they do it TOGETHER.
This isn’t about numbers on a spreadsheet—it’s about the individual students behind those numbers and making sure we’re responding to what THEY need.

27 YEARS in education and still bringing the energy! Meet Alan Rawlins, one of the incredible educators who makes Weber High such a great place to be!
You’ll find Mr. Rawlins in Room 22, teaching Business Office Specialist, Business Law, Business Management, and WEB 1700. But apparently that’s not enough to keep him busy because he’s ALSO our Ed Tech Coach, Department Head, and Graduation Committee Head. His students describe him perfectly: FUNNY. ENERGETIC. PASSIONATE.
And after 27 years, his favorite part of the job is still the people—the kids and the relationships he’s built with fellow teachers.
A few things you might NOT know about Mr. Rawlins:
He’s applied to be on Survivor TWICE. (Someone get this man on the island already.)
He’s coached FIVE different sports at Weber.
And plot twist…he’s apparently a REALLY good baker. Cakes, cookies, treats—the man has RANGE.
His classroom philosophy? Focus your time where it matters most, check for student learning, provide meaningful feedback, and don’t feel like you have to grade every tiny thing.

Sounds easy enough, right?
PLOT TWIST: YOU CAN'T SEE WHERE YOU'RE GOING.
With their chosen leaders calling the shots, students had to rely on clear communication, teamwork, trust, and a whole lot of listening to reach their destination!
And while there were PLENTY of laughs along the way, there was also a pretty awesome lesson behind the fun. Great leadership isn't just about knowing where you're going. It's about communicating clearly, building trust, and helping others get there with you.

Let's be real… feeding hundreds of hungry teenagers every single day is NOT for the weak.

EDUCATOR IN ACTION: KAITLYN KOLILIS
Warm. Demanding. Comedian. Honestly, that combination tells you a LOT about what it’s like to be in Kaitlyn Kolilis’ classroom! With 15 years of teaching experience, Mrs. Kolilis teaches English 10, English 11, Study Skills, and Student Government in Room 210. She also works with Student Gov AND coaches track at NOJH. What a legend!
One of her biggest strengths as an educator is creating engagement and building relationships. Her teacher tip? Create inside jokes with your classes that you can reference all year long. It makes students feel included, connected, and like they’re part of something. And yes…according to her, “It HAS to be organic though.”
Her favorite part of teaching is helping students develop critical-thinking skills and watching young people begin to figure out who they are and where they’re headed. She says being part of their growth, learning, experiences, and stories is an incredible privilege—and a reminder that these students are our future.
And because we need the important information too:
She and Mrs. Nielson competed in HYROX—and they’re pretty dang good at it!
She’s ALWAYS reading, especially thrillers.
She loves traveling and collecting experiences.
If she could teach anything outside her current subject area, she’d pick Psychology.
